# Minimal Earphone Cable Clip Small earphone cable clip which snags on the collar of the jacket to prevent the chord from pulling while running or doing other sport activities. Keeps the cable running upright, which is especially useful when routing inside the jacket. The cable clip has three holes for different cable thickness and/or different grip strength. Most earphones fit the middle hole (~1.5mm), preventing sliding completely. The smallest hole will grab a single earbud cable. The mouth of the clip grabs securely normal/medium-thickness fabric, from the collar of a t-shirt to a sports winter jacket (as pictured). The opening for the cable is intentionally very small (to avoid losing thin cables). Insert the side of a knife to lift it open while inserting the cable. # Printing Print at 0.2mm layer height or lower using a 0.4 nozzle. No supports are required. Using PETG is strongly recommended for this clip, as strong inter-layer adhesion is necessary for the little mouth of the cable clip. PLA can be used if you're careful, but it will lose its pliability very quickly if you plan to move the clip from jacket to jacket. # Alternatives Several clips were tried before designing a new one. Here's what worked: ## [Ear Bud Running Clip](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:345719) by Cleven. What works well: using the Y split as a stop. Unfortunately, some cables are too short if you put the clip on the side of the collar (the middle position is annoying). What didn't work as expected: the clip itself is not secure on thin fabric. It's also a little bigger than desired. ## [Headphone/Earphone Clip](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2348729) by Nick C. What works well: the clip itself works much better, it's designed to be printed without supports, and it also grabs thin wires without a problem. What didn't work as expected: it's big. ## [Earphone Cable Clip](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2261211) by muzz64. Everything about this clip is perfect =). One of these clips is used to prevent the cable from being munched by the zip of the jacket. However, it doesn't actually hold the cable; it's just a pass-through.
