A collection of low-cost, easy-to-make DIY LED Tea Lights is available. I'm happy to design more options to accommodate different battery holders or LED configurations; just let me know what you'd like. The Tea Lights both use a standard CR2032 battery holder and 2x 5mm LEDs; I utilize slow color-changing RGB LEDs but any can be used. These LEDs are extremely bright, however they have a narrow beam angle so I made a simple diffuser to fit over the 5mm LEDs. To prevent the battery & holder from casting shadows, I fitted the long version with standard LED risers. I incorporated these in the second version. The lights can be turned off by simply inserting a piece of plastic between the +ve battery terminal and the battery holder arm. For convenience, I punch a hole in a piece of credit card to make a form of slide switch; this helps prevent the piece of card from being lost. To assemble the compact version, insert the anode (+ve) lead of the LED farthest from the battery, bend the leads into the channel, and then solder them directly to the battery holder terminal. Bend the cathode (-ve) leads together into the channel and solder a short lead between them and the -ve battery holder terminal. Trim the leads so they're flush with the bottom of the Tea Light. I apply a piece of green baize Fablon on the bottom to ensure the light doesn't scratch the table. Print Settings: Printer: RepRepPro Mendel Rafts: No Supports: No Infill: 20%
