Minimal component Geo Dome

Minimal component Geo Dome

thingiverse

This project aims to create a massive structure using minimal materials and hardware components, which are scalable. Each node allows for up to 45 degrees of motion range. A pyramid is the simplest shape that can be formed with this design. The dome employs tension cables between hexagonal nodes and a cable lock to generate compression force. This minimalistic design reduces the number of facets, compensating with cables. Inserts are designed for insertion into 1/2" PVC, cut to the necessary length for the intended size and shape; I'm using 2-foot segments, but do not recommend going longer. Required hardware includes: 5 x 30mm screws, 5mm nuts, 1/32 wire cable, 1/32 cable stops, 1/32 cable crimps, and 6mm split rings. All these items are readily available on Amazon in bulk.
