This is a model of the minie, or Minié, ball based off of the first 1855 patent by Claude-Étienne Minié. The minie ball was arguably one of the more advanced innovations in muzzleloaders during use in Napoleonic warfare, when the strive for more efficient and cheaper munitions were needed. The minie ball was much more accurate and efficient than round ball loads, and featured a conical hole in the rear which both helped the ammunition spread upon barrel travel and made the ammunition much more accurate in rifled weapons. The minie ball was common during the American Civil War later on in its creation, and basically became the standard in modern Napoleonic warfare during black powder's days of use. Diameter: ~.508 in.
