This is a 1 cm thick case designed to replace the standard design of the Mocrosaft 3000 /pro webcam. A compact HD(720p) webcam available for under 25 euro, which performs well on various operating systems such as raspbian on PI, linux, and freebsd, delivering reasonable quality sound. This particular camera is used for monitoring print-jobs on my Wanhao D4. To get it working, I mounted a Pi(1) connected to a cheap icidu usb2 hub. On the Pi, I installed Astrobox (a great render service). Everything is powered by adding 2 Traco powerconverters (whatever input converts to 5v 1A max). Photos are available for viewing. The Traco power converters, although not the cheapest option (9 euro), do not require extra cooling or condensators for noise reduction. Therefore, they can be safely soldered onto a wire from the power supply to the input on the Pi or other 5v device. The powerconverters are mounted on the psu next to the Pi (with the ASTRO sd). When printing a full printbed, ensure that the carriage does not touch the camera. Given my printer's assembly, the end-stop for Y-direction leaves a space of +/- 12 mm between platformguides and carriage, allowing me to reach all areas without collision. To check, go to jogmode in the menu, move Z (bed) to top, home X and Y. Then disable the steppers and move the carriage along the cam by hand.
