MiniBnz's Box Tube Mendel
thingiverse
The solid works drawings showcase an all-metal Mendel with linear bearings for all axes and dual belts on the X and Y axis to handle increased weight. This printer was born out of a friend's astonishment at what could be made using just a cordless drill and hacksaw. The original RepRap had stability issues, as it didn't sit flat or square, so lead screws were used for all axes, resulting in a slower speed (1000rpm ~650mm/min) to prevent frame wobbling and print distortion. However, improvements are ongoing, and updates will be provided; feedback and questions are encouraged. For more information, visit the blog at http://minibnzreprap.blogspot.com/.
