Miniatures Display - Hex Shaped (6mm scale) Parametric

<p>I have collected Battletech miniatures for many years now and even though I do not actively play at the moment, I wanted to see my miniatures on display where I could enjoy them. &nbsp; I didn't want to do a basic shelf system…I wanted something more visually appealing. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>I love hexes and so finally sat down and created a way to display my miniatures using a hex shape and this is the result.</p><p>The OpenSCAD file allows for adjustments to the overall size of the hexes (Vertex to Vertex) and you can choose between 1 and 7 hex shapes to output along with either a back wall (my original solution to mounting) or if you enter 0 for the back wall size it will include a hanger (half-hex with screw hole). &nbsp;</p><p>I did not want the side walls to swallow the miniature so there is a ledge that extends out…I eyeballed the placement of the ledge since I couldn't figure out the formulas needed to determine it's placement for my needs…<i>so if you increase the height you will need to adjust the ledge_y parameter along with the x and y parameters to place the hexes correctly</i>.</p><p>There are more shape combinations in the OpenSCAD file then I ended up exporting. &nbsp;My wall is only using the 7 Hex option (both backed and open) as that worked for what I wanted to make.</p><p>11/23/22 Update: Added 2T, 2R, and 2L as I wanted some 2 hex options to fill in spaces.</p><p>11/26/22 Update: Posted a picture of my final (for now) wall. &nbsp;I used the scad file to create hexes for some 5in and 7.5in prints I've done. &nbsp;I used <a href="https://hexagoncalculator.apphb.com/">https://hexagoncalculator.apphb.com/</a> to determine the correct “vertex to vertex” size for my larger print.</p>
