Miniature Post and Slot Tolerance Test

Miniature Post and Slot Tolerance Test

thingiverse

When designing miniatures, I sometimes need to split them into multiple parts so they can be printed successfully. To ensure accurate printing, I prefer creating slots in each part with a post to guide them together seamlessly. My printer functions flawlessly when the slot is 0.2 mm larger than the post; however, other printers might have varying levels of precision, prompting me to develop this quick tolerance test to determine the ideal gap for this style of post. The post used is identical to the trapezoid design commonly employed in my miniature creations. The base features six slots, each with a tolerance ranging from 0 mm to 0.5 mm (in increments of 0.1 mm). To facilitate the insertion of the post into the slots, tweezers may be necessary; yet this test will provide valuable insight into the required gap for this specific post/slot design, enabling users to adjust the post size accordingly and achieve a snug fit in future projects.
