Miniature Needle Diamond File Ergonomic Handles
grabcad
I purchased these affordable diamond files from Amazon, which can be found at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BSJD76/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. The tools function well, but their round shanks are difficult to grasp after prolonged use. To resolve this issue, I created grips that fit over the shanks with a diameter of approximately 0.115" or 3mm. These grips should also be compatible with similar-sized files. The "File Grip" allows for 2.5 inches of shank insertion, while the "File Grip-Thru" lets the entire shank pass through the handle and even a portion of the file's flat surface for better grip control. To use, print the designs and enjoy improved handling! Before inserting the file shank into the handle, you may need to use a 7/64" drill bit to start and loosen the hole. Additionally, filing the end of the shank to remove burrs and round it off can aid in proper fitting. The handles work well when printed vertically with a raft or horizontally with supports. To maintain file identification after assembly, trim a small ring of the handle's colored coating.
