A Regenerative Engine is a heat engine that operates by cyclically compressing and expanding air or another gas (the working fluid) at different temperatures, resulting in the net conversion of heat energy into mechanical work. Specifically, this type of engine is a closed-cycle regenerative heat engine with a permanently gaseous working fluid. Closed-cycle refers to a thermodynamic system where the working fluid remains contained within the system at all times. The use of an internal heat exchanger and thermal storage unit, known as the regenerator, describes a specific regeneration process. In essence, the inclusion of the regenerator distinguishes this engine from other closed-cycle hot air engines. I have designed and assembled all components using CATIA software for educational purposes.
