Miniature Holder Painting Aid
thingiverse
I made my own mini holders after none of them on Thingiverse fit my needs perfectly. This works great for my short fingers. Print one of each model except for the bases - you'll want to print multiple so you can swap out miniatures for assembly line painting. I use blue poster tack to stick the mini to the bases. You'll need at least two K&J magnets from kjmagnetics.com (or another supplier) to complete this project. Apply a small amount of super glue to the hole in the main body, located underneath as shown in the picture. Insert one magnet into the hole. Next, apply some glue to one base and place it on top of the main body with the hole facing upwards. Add a second magnet to the base. Be careful - these magnets are extremely strong! Remove the base from the main body and repeat this process for all bases until they have a magnet. Attach the finger grip into the slot in the main body, ensuring a snug fit that will stay until the glue sets. My Ultimaker produced a tight fit, so you should be okay. I chose not to glue the handle extender in case I wanted to change its style or length later on; instead, I used a large amount of blue poster tack. Happy painting!
