Miniature Buildings for Giant Robot Diorama
thingiverse
I lost my grip on reality at the Macross Convention in Torrance. I walked away with a bunch of Revoltech Macross action figures, and desperately wanted to display them in a way that did justice to their design. Simply posing them on my shelf just wasn't going to cut it. So, I took matters into my own hands and designed a diorama backdrop tailored specifically to these Robotech/Macross toys. The Revoltech scale is listed as 1:100, but measurements suggest it's actually closer to 1:120. The buildings in this diorama are precision recreations of structures I found on Sketchup by NRO (restaurant) and by Iulian Mitran (apartment building). The three street sections fit together seamlessly, with holes for lamp posts and raised areas that serve as guides for the two buildings. I'm including an undamaged version of the apartment, but unless you have a spacious build volume, you may need to cut it in two, just like I did for the damaged version. When printing these parts, be sure to handle the overhangs (all internal ceilings) for the apartment with care - they require a 45° tilt. In Cura, I set Supports only for parts that touch the build plate. Here's my build album: https://imgur.com/a/lNdVj
