Mini-z Mounting Kit for Lexan Bodies
thingiverse
These parts are designed specifically for mounting a lexan body to a Mini-z. The front bumper attaches directly to the front most lower mounting points located on the bottom of the Mini-z chassis, not the mounting point of the front body clip. The posts then attach securely to the top of the bumper, providing a strong foundation. Two smaller plates are mounted onto the two most forward posts situated on the esc cover of the Mini-z chassis and then the mounting posts are cut to length before being attached. The print orientation for all parts is as downloaded from the original file. Printing can be done at various layer thicknesses, but optimal results are achieved with a .2mm layer thickness for the bumper and mounting plate, while the posts should be printed at .1mm or smaller for maximum precision. To clean up any imperfections in the print and create holes for the body clips, a reamer puncher is highly recommended. This can be found on Amazon by searching for "lexan body reamer." For those who may not have access to specialized tools, there are alternative options available on Amazon. At 1mm diameter, these body clips will work effectively in place of the original design. M2 countersunk screws were used to secure the top plate, providing a sturdy attachment point. These can be found on Amazon by searching for "M2 countersunk screws." For mounting the posts to the front bumper, M2 cap screws are recommended. These can be easily sourced from Amazon by searching for "M2 cap screws."
