Mini V Gantry precision belt holder
thingiverse
I love the "[Anet A8/AM8 2020 X-Axis](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2439194)" conversion design by *thaug29*, and I'm also a big fan of the Mini V Gantry Set on V-slot extrusion profile, whether it's 2020 or 2040 - with the belt inside the slot, it's incredibly stiff, easy to install, pretty cheap, lightweight, and super accurate. However, there is one thing that really bothers me about it. The belt is attached to the gantry plate that slides a few millimeters away from the profile, which means that as you get closer to the pulley, the angle of the belt increases, eventually rubbing against the printed part that holds the 2020 profile and reducing print precision (see 3rd attached image). I came up with a simple yet effective design to force the belt straight into the slot. Instead of attaching the belt to the metal plate, you just insert that plate between the Mini V Gantry plate and your carriage, make a loop around the plastic, and hold it in place with a zip tie using the provided holes (see picture). That's it! Be careful though - this belt holder will only be useful if you're using a design where the belt is running inside the extrusion's slot like on my pictures and in the mod I linked above. The plate is only 3mm thick, so you'll still be able to use the standard 10mm bolts to bolt your carriage. It also makes belt installation easier without having to disassemble the carriage. PS: Sorry for the pictures' quality - my smartphone is pretty awful!
