Mini Tripod Fancy

This mini tripod offers stability for various applications by being hollow and fillable with sand or another weight-enhancing substance. It comes with three styles of the tripod, each accompanied by a thread gauge. Before printing, try out all three styles to determine which one works best with your machine and choose accordingly. If the print is still tight after trying different styles, warm up a bolt and carefully screw it in to enlarge the threads, or if possible, use a tap to cut larger threads. The high-end version features 3D-printed feet that are glued on, which can be printed in either soft TPU or hard plastic depending on your machine's capabilities. These feet also have dowel pin holes for easy alignment when gluing them into place. New V2 tripod parts allow you to print the "top" of the tripod flat and with minimal supports. The lids are also different and require printing. Print Settings: Run your printer at whatever settings it prefers for your material, in terms of layer height. Turn on support only for the build plate. Print the tripod with the three feet down on the bed. Print the cover with the round side facing down. Print the feet with the hole side facing down. Extra Items Needed: A 1/4-20 threaded set screw (available at any hardware store) between .625 and .75 inches long. Sand, lead shot, or another weight-bearing item to fill the inside of the tripod. Epoxy or an appropriate glue for your plastic. 1/8 x 1/4 inch metal dowel pins (available online easily), or a piece of wooden dowel to serve as a locator. Assembly Instructions: Print the desired tripod model and cover cap. Use the locating pins to help glue the feet in place. Carefully insert the set screw into the tripod body. Fill the body with sand or another suitable weight medium. Gently glue the cap on to prevent the weight medium from spilling out. Attach your preferred camera accessory on top of the tripod. Go out and use your tripod! Running Updates: A low-profile lid has been added. A version that uses a 1/4-20 bolt instead of a threaded stud is now available, making it easier for some printers to handle.
