Mini Trash Can with moving wheels
thingiverse
I like the 3D-Fuel Mini trash can, but it's missing one key feature: moving wheels! To fix this, I remixed the design to make it identical to the real thing. I also increased the inside volume by a bit to give it more storage space for waste. The wheels come in two versions - if you're having trouble getting them to spin, try using the 'widerHole' ones instead. This will help prevent friction from building up and making the wheels harder to turn. If that doesn't work, reaming out the hole a bit can also help. Another change I made was to make the lid hollow, just like the real thing. This makes it slightly more difficult to print, but it's lighter and less likely to tip over when you open it. It also gives you a bit more room to pile up junk! If you find that the solid lid from the original design is easier to print but harder to remove, don't worry - it will still fit just fine. Printer Settings: * Printer Brand: FlashForge * Printer Model: Creator Pro * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.1 mm and 0.2 mm * Infill: 20% * Notes: I printed my can in silver and black ABS, using a resolution of 0.2 mm for the main body and 0.1 mm for the rest. My print shows some cracks because I was experimenting with new settings that had too aggressive cooling. The lid with built-in supports should be an easy print and use less material than auto-generated supports. If you need to remove the supports, just wiggle them sideways with pliers until they break loose. If you're printing the lid in a filament that's prone to warping, it's a good idea to add a brim or raft to improve contact with the bed. This will help prevent the corners from lifting and make sure the lid fits perfectly. If you're having trouble printing the lid at all, you can always fall back on the original solid design. If you want to print the bin and lid in different types of filaments with different shrinkage factors (like ABS and PLA), be aware that you may need to scale up the part printed in the filament that shrinks the most by a small fraction. Otherwise, it could be hard or impossible to mount the lid, or it might end up being too loose. Post-Printing: If you're having trouble mounting the lid, try using a knife to remove any material that's getting in the way. This is especially true if your first layer is squashed too much. Updates: * 2017/01/19: v2 - I increased the wall thickness at the top where it was rather thin, and created a version of the insert without a bottom. This is useful if you want to use the trashcan as a holder for pens or other long tools. * 2017/05/18: v3, lid v2 - I made the lid hollow like the real thing, and nudged the wheels outwards for slightly better stability.
