Mini Talon tail conversion, Motor Mount, FC mount, Skid, Control Horns
thingiverse
Human: Converting the XUAV Mini Talon to a conventional tail requires several modifications. Dampened motor mounts, front skids, stronger control horns, and flight controller mounts are included in the conversion process. To print the stabilizer, tail mounts, and rudder, use one perimeter shell, four top/bottom layers, and 5% infill. This should result in a VStab+Rudder that weighs approximately 61 grams. Use five-millimeter carbon rods or dowels, cut to forty millimeters in length, for the bottom of the VStab. Make holes in the foam at the rear of the fuselage to accommodate these components. Spare foam from the tail skid can be used to fill a square hole on the top of the fuselage near the front of the VStab. The Horizontal stabilizer mounts should weigh around 19 grams each, requiring one normal and one mirrored print. Print the inner side down with supports from the build platform. Trim the existing foam stabilizers off vertically. A four-millimeter carbon fiber rod fits into the mount for proper orientation, but a few millimeters need to be trimmed off the end for correct length. The motor mount is designed for use with 6-32 by one-half inch rubber well-nuts and should be printed with 100% fill or equivalent perimeter/top/bottom layers.
