Mini Talon Cooling Vent (Top, Rear)
thingiverse
This was done in response to an ESC issue that caused it to shut down after just 10 minutes of flight due to excessive heat buildup. The ESC specs indicated this would happen at a temperature of 110 degrees C. To resolve the problem, I installed Mark Qvale's Naca Duct on the lid to draw in more air and added a Cooling Vent above the ESC area in the fuselage to allow hot air to escape. A thermocouple was attached to the ESC and flight testing resumed; temperatures stabilized at 39 degrees C, effectively solving the issue. The Cooling Vent is designed for seamless integration into the depressed square section at the front of the tail wings. To achieve a clean look, this area should be neatly cut out vertically to create a channel leading into the fuselage section before installing the grid. For an aerodynamic finish, consider recessing the top surface of the Cooling Vent 1.5mm into the fuselage top.
