Mini Storage Trays and Shelves - Light weight
thingiverse
This is V2 of my latest creation, a significant upgrade to what I made last month (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2964061). NEW AND IMPROVED! * It uses substantially less material (approximately 75% lighter per linear meter of shelf). * Prints faster. * Holds minis of standard plastic weight; if you have metal minis, use V1 instead. * You only need one row, not two rows since the trays set nicely and don't tip over. * Interlocking parts drastically reduce the number of clips needed. * Narrower trays catch on supports less often without compromising storage space. * Stacks more stably. I wanted to showcase my minis from games like Conan, Massive Darkness, Nova Aetas, Zombiecide, Swords and Sorcery, Mythic Battles, and others. Shelves are typically too deep, specimen drawers are expensive, and risers don't utilize space efficiently. So I designed an organizer that works like a desktop file holder but is modular and lets you display your minis. The mini bases fit in the channels of the tray for easy retrieval. You can pull out a tray for any given game then slip them back in when you're done. The depth of the trays allows you to store similar models in a row while still showcasing the breadth of your collection. For my particular shelves, I've divided them so I can print the system on a Prusa MK3. That means two 3-tier shelves, two 2-tier shelves, and 12 trays per 200mm of linear shelf. The trays will hold roughly 36 minis each, depending on their compactness. That's over 400 minis per linear 200mm of shelf. The system is designed to fit snugly together. For my setup, tall and monstrous models will reside on the top shelves, but I'll add more options for spacing as I start sorting my collection into the system. As far as I can tell, the shelves themselves should fit snugly and not tip over or fall. However, a dab of superglue on the feet and corners between sections may provide some insurance. I will experiment with ways to weld the mini trays together. v2 - Initial release of the new lightweight version v2.1.1 - Updated shelf 115mm 50mm to fix missing support v2.1.2 - Made TinkerCad link public so people can make their own edits v2.1.3 - Added 40mm rail tray (4 slots) v2.1.4 - Added tray with 4 25mm slots and 2 32mm slots in the same tray (max space)
