Designers have created a "proof of concept" for a printed flexible belt (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1529638) and customizable pulleys (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1539656). The system can be used to demonstrate the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical power, providing sufficient light to navigate even in complete darkness. In addition to printed components, the setup includes a 3x8 bearing, a 3mm axis, a mini toy motor, various 3mm and 4mm nuts and bolts, and an LED.
