Mini Plastic Dryer for Filament Extruder

Mini Plastic Dryer for Filament Extruder

This is the first version, created after overcoming some issues with filament produced by my Filament Extruder (designed by Sr. Hugh Lyman). My goals were to address two significant problems in my opinion: 1. The extrusion speed of filament was too slow, about 20 inches per minute. 2. Water bubbles existed in the filament fibers due to moist plastic pellets. The second issue caused bubbles to appear on the fiber, especially at high speeds or temperatures (190°C to 195°C). I couldn't achieve high-speed extrusion using low temperatures (175°C -185°C), which resulted in unripe extrusion and hard, slightly grainy plastic fibers (tested with ABS and TPU). Results after drying: - Extrusion speed increased to over 60 inches per minute (maximum on my extruder machine). - Filament fiber became slick, smooth, and bubble-free. Please note that all the above is based on my personal opinion, and I welcome feedback from others. Below are the details of the mini dryer: Heat band: 250w, Φ30mm x L60mm Drying temperature: 100-125°C Drying time: 30'-45' Capacity: 1 kg plastic Dimension: W150mm x L160mm x H300mm Cost: approximately $100 Video link: https://youtu.be/63xcl10QMIM I hope this will be useful for someone.
