## The Planetary Gear MIN-orah This is a 60% scale version of the [Planetary Gear Menorah v2](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4066140). Because it is a miniature version of the menorah, I like to call it the "Min-orah" > The name "Menorah" comes in part from the Hebrew word "ohr" (אור) which means "light". The Min-orah name still keeps true to the "ohr"/"light" root! (Credit to my Rabbi who told me about this) ### Assembly Notes Due to the low clearances used in the original model, simply resizing the parts down to 60% scale will result in several print-in-place parts fusing together. However, many of the snapping mechanisms do not work well at the smaller size, so it is recommended to glue the parts together. Obviously, you can print this model in any color you like. However, for the sake of simplicity, I have labeled the various `stl` files based on the color of the menorah in the image. You can print the crank base with or without an extra tab. The model shown does not have the tab, however the tab makes the menorah easier to hold on to while you are turning it. See the original model for assembly instructions. ### T-Nut Notes Unlike the full-size menorah, the Min-orah does not fit normal Hannukah candles. Instead of metal T-nuts, the Min-orah uses 3D printed T-nuts alongside special candles that screw into them. To keep the look of the full-size menorah, I found some small screws to attach the 3D printed T-nuts. Like the full-size, the Min-orah uses 27, M2x5mm screws ([Amazon link](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013T1U4LG)). Though, if you are gluing the rest of the model together, there's no reason you can't skip the screws and just glue the T-nuts on instead. ### Candle Notes The full Min-orah takes 9 candles. Each candle is made of one `Candle-9x.stl`, one `CandleFlame-9x.stl`, and a short length of white 1.75mm filament for the wick. You can experiment with the length, but ~5mm seems to be a good start. It is recommended to apply some glue between the candle, flame, and "wick". For printing the candles, make sure to significantly decrease your printer speed as well as consider adding some sort of raft. They are best printed vertical, but have very little surface contact with the print bed so they can break free if you don't make special effort. You can also use birthday candles in the T-nuts, though you will need to shave off a bit of the bottom for them to fit. I do not recommend lighting them / letting them burn for too long, as they are not well secured and not in metal inserts.
