Mini Paint Carousel Organizer
thingiverse
A friend asked me to print him a paint organizer he found on here, but it didn't fit on my bed, so I designed a similar one from scratch that's smaller. I printed two of them for him last year, just posting now because someone else asked for it. It holds 40 nerd paints for painting little army dudes or whatever. It has a recess in the bottom to accommodate a turn table so it spins. I glued the turntable to the bottom and put some little rubber feet on it. Links below. You have to make sure you do enough layers on the top so that it's smooth because it has a flat top and it has issues covering the hollow spots of the infill. I didn't think about that when I designed it. The first one I printed was a bit messy on top so I printed a thin plate and glued it on there to cover it. You can see it on the one on the left in the picture. On the second one I just increased the number of top layers and it came out fine. I suggest cutting out a section and doing a small test print to see what settings work for you before doing the whole thing. The roof of the inset on the bottom for the turntable also came out pretty messy. It didn't matter because you can't see it and I was gluing the turntable on there anyway, but if you care you may want to make sure your support settings work for that area before doing the whole thing. I used silky red PLA. This is pretty cool stuff. Came out very shiny. The individual holes are 26.5 mm in diameter. The overall dimensions are 137.57 mm in diameter and 138 mm tall. I did the design in Tinkercad. It was a pain because of some basic features missing regarding rotations and symmetry, etc. Once I got pretty far into it I decided to finish it in there, but if I had to do something like this again I'd take the opportunity to learn something better. Tinkercad is pretty good for simple stuff but I ran up against some of its limitations on this one.
