UPDATE, PLEASE READ: 2/13/17- Despite initial success, extensive load testing and backlash analysis revealed a critical flaw in this gearbox design. The decision to round off gear teeth for easy printing backfired, resulting in excessive backlash and binding issues due to misaligned gears. This setback has led to valuable lessons learned, ensuring future creations meet higher standards. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2054378 http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2101218 For any missing instructions, consult the larger version, which provides detailed guidance until a new video is created. The assembly process remains similar, but with planet gears arranged as depicted in the image above. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2054378 PARTS REQUIRED - 18 Tooth Ring Gear - 19 Tooth Ring Gear - Planet Gears (Less Backlash Gears recommended for optimal fitment) - NEMA 17 Mount Using both D-Shaft Sun Gears is not advised unless the shaft is shortened to accommodate. For a 50.4:1 Ratio, use the 5 Tooth D Shaft Sun Gear with the 6 Tooth Clearance Sun Gear. For a 38.75:1 Ratio, pair the 6 Tooth D Shaft Sun Gear with the 5 Tooth Clearance Sun Gear. INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY Carefully examine the alignment marks on all gears, referring to the images above for clarity (small circles, either inset or extruded). Before installation, verify the flat spot's location on both the Sun gear and D-Shaft. Always insert the gear set into the housing with the D-Shaft Sun gear facing the Motor.
