A Tiny Terror - I decided to make the name even more literal and fun. I'm really low on white filament so I had to print this at a reduced size. As soon as I order more, I'll reprint this with custom supports for easier printing. Entry for the Thingiverse #RemixChallenge. How I Designed This Mini Monster Truck One of my earliest 3D Models was a simple skull - I wanted to learn to create models from pictures instead of just free-handing it. A skull would be a challenging place to start, and I figured it out successfully. When this challenge appeared, I knew I wanted to take something from my old projects and give them a new life. I remembered the Mini Monster Truck, so I decided on a "Monster" Truck series - taking an old project and giving it a fresh life. However, my original model was rather outdated - only 2,200 triangles (Picture Below). My first step was to update the skull itself, making it smooth and bringing it up to date. The printed model wouldn't be obviously polygonal anymore. After smoothing out the skull, I had to reshape the innards - I had modeled the original skull to be hollow but manifold. I tore out the inner walls and created volume in most of the skull - leaving an actual hole for the nose. I'm glad I went this route, as filling the nose with eyes wouldn't look as good. Next, I simply detached the Monster Truck from the base piece (Created by Jakejake) with the suspension, and popped the skull on top - taking a bit longer than I'd like to admit. Then, I did some model tests to ensure the wheels would clear the jaw, and everything would still fit properly. The final step was simply printing, assembling, and taking pictures. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and intend to print a few more "Monster" trucks in the future.
