Mini "Mir" Submersible
cults3d
This is a compact MIR style underwater towed camera vehicle. Simply 3D print it and it'll be ready to fit a GoPro style camera on...in fact, several cameras can be fitted. If you wish to take it further - you can install standard radio controlled out runner motors and props - then you'll have the makings of a neat MICRO ROV. Using this vehicle, you can save a fortune - you won't need $30,000, service charges, a group of scientists and crew, ship time booked 3 years in advance or unlimited cash flow to get very useful and valuable underwater camera footage. You can deploy this submersible for surveys - but it is also an excellent platform for underwater movie makers, anglers, explorers, scientists, fishermen, search and rescue etc. This can also be towed with a camera as well as bait / lure to get some amazing fish action shots. Some technical details here: In use the body fills up with water thus trapping the water which in turn becomes inertia -that means the vehicle is extremely smooth for camera panning and towed underwater flight. If you make it up as a Micro ROV it may be used in marinas, canals, lakes, lochs and can work, depending on many variables, running straight into the tide. If you want to resize the vehicle you can do that in your 3D printer. If you want further alterations – you can contact us for a chat regarding your requirements. I've been making Micro Underwater Vehicles for many years in R&D as well as making underwater movies, salvage and treasure surveys. All my products have been tested in the real world and work extremely well. There are 4 STL files. You can fit your own fins if required. The MIR style is very easy to handle. During the finishing process it is a joy to prime, fill, sand and paint. I recommend Z-poxy coating inside and out for strength as well as it being a great substrate for the new paint livery you choose. In the photos attached you will see a basic finish. Enjoy!
