Mini Lathe Carriage Stop / Travel dial
thingiverse
This is a travel dial holder or carriage stop for a Chinese mini lathe. You can fit a DTI gauge as shown in the pictures, or an 8mm bar to act as a carriage stop. Useful when making many of the same part, or when turning a feature to an exact length. I used an M4 button head screw to clamp the DTI, and made a knurled screw to clamp to the ways. This has been used already a couple of times, don't know how managed without it. Edit: A small modification was needed, the V2 body now has a slot for a captive half-nut for the main clamping screw, threading into plastic is not ideal when you want to clamp tight. The original model can still be used, okay if only using with a DTI, but if wanting to use as a carriage stop then suggest using V2. Printer Settings Printer: Anet A8 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 50% Notes: Print the main body upside down ('v' upwards), print the clamp with the guide rails uppermost. Printed mine perfectly first time with PLA, note probably best to use a color other than white. Post-Printing Tap the upper hole M4, the lower hole M5. V2, just slide an M5 half-nut into the slot, no need to tap the hole. How I Designed This Fusion 360! What an incredible piece of software, just keeps getting better!
