This is by no means complete or accurate (especially the chuck) however I made this model in preparation for the building of a mini lathe from jarrah with hand tools. The lathe uses a 540 brushless RC car motor, ESC and a servo tester for speed control and on/off, a NiMH battery sits underneath away from sharp tools. There is no live end, the wood simply spins on the pointy metal piece, which I will machine myself. In between the motor shaft and the chuck is a coupler from a CNC that has some amount of flex allowing for minor errors in the matched drilling of the three plates that hold the motor and the hole for the shaft to pass which is fitted with a small ball bearing.
