Mini-HexBit Multitool / Organizer
thingiverse
This was an uncomplicated project which started with simple demands of: ordering a collection of 1/4" inserts to aid in servicing a multirotor at the flight location, and providing supplementary leverage on screws when necessary. This proved to be a perfect complement to a more conventional multitool such as a Leatherman. Starting from a solid block, I merely added enough slots to satisfy my requirements. As time passed, it turned out to be quite practical, and began showing up near my 3D printer, glove compartment... etc. Ultimately I needed enlargement, or a means to enlarge and carry more pieces. To facilitate joining the widgets, a peg and press-fit openings for 1/4" magnets (easily available on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Neodymium-Magnets-inch-Disc-N48/dp/B001KUWM3C) were incorporated. This should provide limitless expansion and organization. I hope it motivates others to reconfigure or print using it as is. **Be aware - the intended fit was tight for security... may require pliers to remove bits. Magnets need pliers to press-fit the magnets.
