Mini-er Brain Gears
thingiverse
I decided to tackle the issue of wasted space in my mini brain gear assembly by completely redesigning the gears to make them thinner and more efficient. This redesign also streamlines the assembly process, allowing me to utilize 2mm dowel pins as shafts instead of measuring, cutting, and shaping PLA shafts - a tedious task that's now a thing of the past. Post-printing requires only one quick step: reaming holes with a 2mm drill bit. I'm also excited about the potential for further miniaturization in the future, which might just lead to an even smaller version of this design. UPDATE 07OCT18: I highly recommend using my updated design instead of this one. It's now available on Thingiverse and can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3141712. Please note that parts are not backward compatible, so make sure to update your design accordingly.
