A compact drill press for hobby-style drills, perfect for piercing PCBs. Check out this video tutorial! (http://youtu.be/6TpeNm8IX6g) The accompanying components are designed to fit a RotaCraft RC18 Hobby Drill; however, modifying the tool mounts to accommodate other hobby drills should be relatively straightforward. An original thumb-wheel scad/stl was included initially, but it was replaced with an arm due to its impracticality. To assemble, you'll need these printed parts: one each of drill_base, fixed_slide, sliding_wedge_rack, rack_gear, arm_mount, and arm_knob. Additionally, you will require tool mounts that fit your specific hobby drill (either rotacraft_rc18_drill_body_mount and rotacraft_rc180_drill_collar_mount for the RotaCraft RC18 Hobby Drill), along with various screws, washers, nuts, and rods. For assembly, begin by fitting a M8 nut captively onto the threaded rod, then secure it with an M8 nut and washer. Next, attach the fixed slide using another M8 nut and washer, followed by a captive M8 nut. Insert the rack_gear onto the threaded rod, adding an M3 nut and screw, and ensure that the gear is threaded into the lugs on the fixed slide. Add an arm mount with an M8 wing-nut, ensuring tightness. Secure the tool mounts to the sliding wedge using three M3 x 12 screws and one M3 x 20 screw (the longer screw should be at the bottom right for attaching the return spring). Mount your tool and secure it with M3 x 12 screws, nuts, and washers. Insert the sliding wedge into the fixed slide and attach the return spring to the long M3 screw within the sliding wedge. Secure this to the fixed slide using an M3x6 screw in one of the three available holes for adjustment. Lastly, adjust the arm's position by loosening the wing-nut, repositioning the arm, and retightening the wing-nut.
