Mini dome with pins - Icosahedron
thingiverse
This text describes a modified icosahedron dome design that uses drinking straws or other hollow tubes for construction. The original design can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:26860, but this version features connectors made with pins for easier assembly. Before printing, measure the inner diameter of your chosen tubing and adjust the scad files accordingly. You'll need 20 hexagonal connectors and six pentagonal ones, which should be printed on three plates using a 3D printer. The author used 35 long straws (approximately 16.5cm) and 30 short straws (about 2cm shorter than the long ones), bending them as needed. Assembly instructions can be found in the provided diagram, with green, blue, red, and pink representing the different connector types. The pins used for connectors are slightly tapered to aid in printing and straw insertion. Lastly, the author chose the same license as the original design, but notes that they are not a legal expert and may have selected incorrectly.
