Mini Cut/Print-able Quadcopter
thingiverse
This is a compact quad that can be 3D printed or laser/cnc cut. I designed it specifically with small quadcopters like the one at http://www.amazon.com/UDI-Axis-Stablized-Quadcopter-Helicopter/dp/B0095BXACK in mind. You can use other places to find the right parts for it. It is designed to work with 4: 7 mm diameter and 20 mm height motors and flight controllers and radios that come with them. The quad in the link above is a bit over-powered, so it should fly well even without the main frame or a micro fpv setup. I designed it for both orientations, but you must use the board that comes programmed into the one you want to fly. If your flight controller has arms extending out from the middle of each side, use that design. If it is made to work with arms coming from the corners, use that one instead. If weight seems like an issue, I also uploaded versions of each orientation with slightly smaller legs that take up less space. It's very important to remember that this quad was designed to be cut out of 3 mm materials like MDF or acrylic sheet, so if you're using a different thickness it won't fit together. The main frame is where you'll mount your FC, and I did it this way so you can easily modify it for whatever camera or accessories you have. As a side note, I still haven't uploaded the 3D versions of the actual body yet, because I'm trying to find a good program to convert my files from 2D to 3D. If anyone has access to such a program and is willing to help me out, that would be greatly appreciated. To assemble this quad, start by printing or cutting the main frame. Mount your FC into it using the provided pegs and some glue, then attach any battery holders, covers or other components you may have added to the design. After that, simply insert the legs into place with a bit of superglue and add motors while securing them as well. If you were to take apart a quadcopter like the one on Amazon to use as parts, be sure to consult its manual for instructions on how to assemble this build. That's about it!
