Mini Bit Driver Enclosure for keychains for 4.5mm bits
thingiverse
I absolutely adore multitools! Unfortunately, I'm not particularly fond of the 2D Phillips head driver that comes with my Leatherman Squirt and my Gerber Dime. Since I have a bunch of mini-bit drivers on hand (the 4.5mm size), I decided to create and share a compact keychain companion for my favorite EDC tool. Step 1: Find a 4.5mm bit that you need to carry with you everywhere. Most makers will have some sets lying around - if you don't have any, check out your local hardware store, electronics store, or even a dollar store for a set. Budget $1 to $3. Step 2: Print it with 100% infill - add in your bit and prepare the keychain or EDC multi-tool ring. Step 3: Attach the companion to your keychain or EDC multi-tool ring. 7mm (7.1mm actually) version available here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2009124 Print Settings: Printer: Maker Select i3 and PowerSpec Ultra Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .15 Infill: 100% Notes: This is a ~10-15 minute print even with 100% infill. The fit should be snug, and the tightness should favor the part that holds the bit when you use it. Some minimal filing may be needed. Troubleshooting: Laying the design flat and printing both parts in one works best for me (for overall strength of part) on my i3 but that may not be the case for all printers, so I split the design up into PartA and PartB if you want to print separately. If you have trouble with bridging of part laying flat, try printing PartA and PartB with hole for bit part oriented flat on bed (rotate in your slicer software). If the part is too snug - then scale the size in the slicer software up by one or two percent and try again. Luckily, it's only a 10-15 minute print and less than a meter of filament. If the part is too loose - scale the size in the slicer software down by one or two percent and try again.
