MINI BBALL HOOP MK2
thingiverse
I create a mini basketball hoop for my son, my latest make2 design. The original MK1 model was printed in one piece (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:582302) and lasted several slam dunks before ultimately giving way. Deciding to upgrade with better durability and aesthetics in mind, I build the new one using a combination of materials - specifically, a metal ring that enhances its structural integrity while adding visual appeal. Now onto the instructions. I sourced one straight aluminum bar from my local hardware store, with a diameter of 7.5mm and a wall thickness of 0.8 mm. It was perfect for my design but needed to be curved into a circular shape, which is when I decided to build a roll bender (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:835165). The resulting shape, achieved through manual manipulation, has an approximate diameter of 170mm.
