'mini' - a traveling 3d printer
thingiverse
PLEASE READ: I uploaded all the files you need to print the printer, even though they're still buggy. I tried to stick to a naming convention: files with _unfixed at the end are in the state I printed them in, and you'll need to do some work on them after printing to make them functional. Files with _fix at the end are parts that need fixing before they can be used - they will be removed once the part itself is fixed. Files without a suffix should print out of the printer just fine. The edges are just bumpers, and you'll want to print them in TPU if you want them to work properly. Otherwise, they're useless. Have fun printing it, and feel free to provide feedback - let me know if there are still bugs I need to fix. I'm working on a new workflow that involves reviewing the videos I made to catch any problems, cutting the video for YouTube, fixing the design, and publishing the video later. The printer is currently working well and producing decent print results, but it's not without its flaws. To get it working with my phone, I'm using a Pi with Octoprint and hostapd - I'm still figuring out how to publish the software part, though. I'm thinking about creating a simple bash script to provision the printer on a fresh Octopi image - what do you think? Please let me know in the comments. 'Mini' is my attempt at creating a 3D printer that's portable and easy to reproduce while keeping costs low. It seems like the cheapest option for this is an A8 kit, a shrunk heated bed, and a pack of bearings. The print volume for this printer is 111x111x65mm - you'll need a print volume of at least 220x200x60mm to print it, though! When printing the bed holder, use a material with higher temperature resistance than what you plan to print with this printer. If you want to print PLA, print the bed holder in PETG; if you want to print PETG, print the bed holder in ABS. I'm working on creating a series of videos about the build - you can find them here (but they're currently only in German). Please note that this project is still very much a work in progress, and even though my prototype is working well, all parts have errors that I need to fix before uploading. My prototype is mostly printed in PLA on a Prusa I3 MK3s with increased speed - I recommend printing in PETG while focusing on quality instead of speed.
