The Minesweeper Project 89.2 was a former East Germany vessel, serving from 1971 to 1990. A total of 30 units and two special vehicles were built between 1969 and 1973 at Peenewerft Wolgast, with an approximate unit price of 8.7 million GDR marks. Primarily designed for mine-sweeping and clearance tasks, these ships also had capabilities in mine-laying, depth charge throwing for submarine defense, and accompanying/reconnaissance missions. As part of the Allied Baltic Fleets (VOF), their operational area spanned the Baltic Sea, North Sea up to 61 degrees north latitude, and the English Channel. After German reunification, 14 ships were scrapped while six remained in service until 1991. Out of the remaining 15 vessels, four went to Uruguay, two to Latvia, and nine to Indonesia, where they continue serving today.
