Minecraft Wall Torch Mount
thingiverse
I got my son an awesome Minecraft Light-up Wall Torch for his birthday and discovered it was wall-mountable - a flip-down corner reveals holes that can slide onto screws set into the wall to mount it at a 45-degree angle. Pretty cool, but I didn't want to make holes in the wall to mount it so decided to design a mounting plate that could be held to the wall with 3M Command strips without causing any damage. MinecraftTorchMount.stl is my first attempt and works great for what it does. You can attach the plate to the wall, and it has perfectly sized studs to hold the torch using its existing holes. When I tested the first plate, I noticed that placing and removing the torch would eventually loosen the hinge and make the flap difficult to stay closed. Since my son will likely put it on and take it off a lot, I came up with something better. MinecraftTorchMount2.stl is the full mount I ended up with - the torch simply slips in without opening the flap. The torch fits snugly in place and can be installed and removed easily without damaging it. Much better, in my opinion. So take your pick... If you're going to mount your torch and leave it alone, the original is lower-profile and more true to the game (when you put a torch on the wall in the game, it just sticks there). If your kid likes playing with theirs, they might prefer the second option. Print Settings Printer Brand: FlashForge Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Notes: MinecraftTorchMount.stl needs a small support for the "heads" of the studs. MinecraftTorchMount2.stl only needs a small support under the bottom edge of the topmost inside "lip".
