Minecraft Torch Nightlight

This is a remix of SuperInfraMan's great Minecraft torch nightlight with a few changes: I removed the base plate from the original model and designed a separate 'cleat' to mount the torch to the wall. This means all the fixings/screws are hidden away inside the torch for a cleaner look. I made a cavity in the torch head leaving enough room to insert a coiled-up strip of RGB leds and added a lip to help keep the strip in place. There was no tolerance built into the original model meaning I had a fair bit of sanding to do before I could put the pieces together once printed. I trimmed a quarter of a millimetre off of all the faces of parts that slide into another. It should now be a snug fit for most printers. 26/08/2018. Thanks to a suggestion by smma I added another base piece which you can use if you want to have the torch sitting upright or just use it handheld. Settings / Post-Printing Since the base piece is printed at 45 degrees (which is a considerable overhang) I chose to print in PLA with my cooling fan on full so I could print without supports. The torch head was printed in a cheap transparent PLA. I primed the pieces with plastic primer from Halfords before painting them with acrylic paints. To protect the paint I then sprayed the parts with a clear spray lacquer. For the lights I ordered a 5m RGB led strip from ebay since they already come with a remote and power supply. I opted for a 600 led version rather than a 300 led version as the denser strip makes for a more even light when stuffed into the torch head - I cut a 30cm long segment for each torch I made and wired them in parallel to the included power supply. The remainder of the led strip I'll keep for other projects. Lastly, thanks to chalkboard walls I was able to conceal the wires behind the wall. Cheers to SuperInfraMan for the original design, my nephews love their nightlights.
