Customize your Minecraft chest by using OpenSCAD to generate a design during a build-off at the Orlando Science Center hosted by FamiLAB. Choose your preferred modeling software and create a chest in just a few hours while discussing hackerspaces with attendees. The chest measures about 50mm cubed or double when a double chest, printing as one plate. Share your prints, especially if painted. To personalize the chest beyond basic scaling, obtain .scad files and OpenSCAD software. Use the chest() module that requires three inputs: chest body length, wall thickness, and single/double chest option. A 1 or 2 passed as the third parameter generates a single or double chest respectively. Print at high resolution, trim loose strands and extrusion support, then snap halves together. Print in brown filament and paint accents on side panels and latch for an authentic look.
