Milwaukee Chalk box Central Gear
thingiverse
why spend $15.00 on a new chalk box why you current one just needs upgrading for $00.10 End result is a very smooth gearbox without any skipping Needed: Dremel 3x20mm screw and nut Milwaukee Chalk box T8 bit to disassemble gearbox Three Pieces. The two pins replace the spring to stop the gear disengaging while still allowing rotation, and the central sprocket replaces the gear attached the the handle. To reuse the handle you will need to cut the old central sprocket gear piece (piece attached to handle) with a Dremel and remove the rivet holding in the handle. A 3x20mm screw will replace the old rivet perfectly on the new piece. When reassembling the gearbox, clean off the gears and reassemble with some white lithium grease. Now your gearbox will work better than it did when new, just without the center press button which disengages the gearing (that is the most common reason the gears are skipping). If there is enough interest I will create the entire gearbox for replacement, my eventual goal between my four boxes is to only need string replacements. The original piece lasted for about five miles of chalk lines, I will update on the replacement pieces when I have more data.
