Millstone Burn 2c (Oct 2006)
sketchfab
Prehistoric carved boulder discovered near Millstone Burn on Longframlington Common in Northumberland. This remarkable boulder is listed as 'Millstone Burn 2c' in the Beckensall Archive (BA) and was first recorded by NADRAP in ERA in 2008. The BA describes a unique feature of 'A line of nine cups and seven others.' NADRAP later noted that thirteen or fourteen single cups are carved on the highest ridge of the boulder, with one located on the south sloping east side and five more on the north. Three of these cups are linked by a distinctive groove. It's possible that natural erosion has occurred within the upturned bedding planes. Additional information is available through ERA & BA at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=540. This 3D model was created from five stereo pairs captured by Dave Tuck and David Jones (NADRAP) in October 2006. The imagery forms part of the comprehensive NADRAP archive deposited with Historic England and Northumberland County Council.
