Prehistoric carved boulder located near Millstone Burn on Longframlington Common, Northumberland, is a fascinating site that has garnered significant attention from archaeologists and enthusiasts alike. This crustose lichen-covered boulder, designated as 'Millstone Burn 2b' in the Beckensall Archive (BA), was first documented by NADRAP in 2008, and its unique features have been meticulously recorded in both archives. Upon closer inspection, several cups are visible on the surface of the boulder, some of which are skillfully placed within natural grooves. Stan Beckensall's thorough examination revealed an impressive total of 11 cups, while NADRAP's detailed analysis identified a slightly lower count of 9 cups. Interestingly, this model presents 11 depressions of varying sizes, leaving open the question of whether all of these features are indeed man-made. Further investigation and analysis may be necessary to settle this debate.
