Millennium Falcon larger engine Vents upgrade with solid backing (Kenner / Trilogy Collection)

I added a backing layer and resized the vents so that they actually sit on the higher up bevel on the engine exhaust circles rather than in the well where the sticker goes. The end result is that the vents look bigger and more movie accurate. I looked at numerous reference photos and the original toy's stickers are proportionately smaller than the actual vents on the movie model, which is made much worse by how low they in the exhaust circles. This mod is a massive improvement and I'd like to say thanks to hotdogface for designing the original version and setting me off on this quest to perfect my Trilogy Collection Falcon. Because of the backing layer, these act as a full replacement for the original stickers since they will not be at all visible underneath. I removed mine but you don't have to. I used superglue to attach the new vents. I recommend using only a tiny bit of glue and don't go crazy. If you ever want to remove the vents you can pop the whole piece in the freezer, and the glue will become brittle and easy to separate. The backing layer is super thin and will be transluscent if light shines through it, although it's not really a problem once they're installed, and they still have plenty of structural integrity from the rest of the print. I used Paramount 3D's Stealth Gray filament. I highly recommend it or a similar dark not-quite-black gray, because I find that straight black is too intense, does not read as well under normal lighting conditions, and it detracts from the overall dirty retro aesthetic of the toy. Stealth gray was just right in my opinion.
