This is a Y-axis thrust bearing guard designed for use with the Indian mill plate showcased in my Drill Press to Mill conversion videos available at https://youtu.be/rsgLIzSfq9U and https://youtu.be/_5m9vx51WQc. Installing this guard adds nearly 26mm of travel to the Y-axis, resulting in improved protection from chips.
