Mill/Lathe CNC Add-on

Mill/Lathe CNC Add-on

thingiverse

This design attaches to your lathe or mill's slide handles, such as the L159 model, and enables stepper motor operation. Whether using a full CNC setup or Arduino for simple tasks, the drive gear is easily removable while the motor remains slack when not in use. To create this system, print the gears and attach them to a NEMA17 stepper motor's shaft. Secure the bracket with M3 and M5 screws as per your machine's requirements. Adjust slot positions or sizes if necessary using OpenSCAD. Connect the stepper, driver board, and Arduino according to the diagram; load the example PDE code for initial testing. Modify the code further by adding limit switches, push buttons, etc., from the Arduino Examples folder. For a complete CNC setup with RAMPS board, attach multiple assemblies to your mill. This project is an open project featured in New Zealand's "The Shed Magazine."
