Dan Gelbart showcases this tool at 2 minutes into his exceptional Prototyping YouTube series. "Virtually Vitamin Free" costs less than $1 overall. It requires a 2032 button cell, a laser pointer, and this 3D printed part. You can obtain 10 of these laser pointers for $1.90 US on AliExpress. The link is http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-10P-5V-650nm-5mW-Laser-Red-Dot-Module-red-laser-sight-red-laser-diode/32354307065.html There are two locations for the 2032, one being an interference fit to the laser leads and the other serving as a storage place for the battery when the laser is off. The laser pointer is focused by rotating the brass sleeve to achieve the finest point suitable for your center-finding experience! I designed this with OpenSCAD parametrically to accommodate my Bridgeport Mill (68mm diameter quill).
