Military Symbols and Graphics: Friendly Unit Collection 1
thingiverse
These are US military symbols commonly used for wargaming and arraying forces on the battlefield with maps. Current US Army regulations guided my creation of these symbols so they mostly adhere to regulation. Designs from widely used military stencils also influenced their design. However, I prioritized making them easily printable in standard military map sizes for better usability. The goal is to help fellow military personnel with building terrain model kits and MDMP wargaming. I've uploaded all the symbols I've made so far, allowing you to mix and match the ones that suit your needs. Below is a list of the included units, but I'll continue adding more and addressing issues as I go. I created these symbols in echelons typically seen from Brigade or Battalion levels, but feel free to request specific units like those if needed. Finishing touches were added by painting just the raised portions or using a sharpie to color them (see picture). Units included: Air Defense Artillery Company (ADA CO) Air Defense Artillery Platoon (ADA PLT) Air Defense Artillery Section (ADA Section) Armor Battalion (AR BN) Armor Company (AR CO) Armor Platoon (AR PLT) Anti-Tank Battalion (AT BN) Anti-Tank Company (AT CO) Anti-Tank Platoon (AT PLT) Aviation Attack Company (AVN CO [Attack]) Aviation Attack Platoon (AVN PLT [Attack]) Cavalry Squadron (CAV SQDN) Combined Arms Battalion Engineer Company (EN BEB) Field Artillery Battery (FA BTRY) Field Artillery Platoon (FA PLT) Self-propelled Field Artillery Battalion (FA SP BN) Infantry Battalion (IN BN) Maintenance Battalion (Maint BN) Mechanized Infantry Company (MECH IN CO) Medic Role 1 Military Intelligence UAS Platoon (MI USA PLT) Multiple Launch Rocket System Battery (MLRS Battery) Military Police Battalion (MP BN) Heavy Mortar Company (MTR CO [Heavy]) Reconnaissance Company (RECON CO) Signal Re-transmission Section (SIGNAL RTNS Section) This is a work in progress, and I'm testing the symbols' print quality. Some units with small letters might not print fully due to size constraints, and I'm refining designs as needed. If this collection becomes too large, I'll start anew for easier management.
