This massive torso, a monumental representation, likely depicts Apollo, the revered patron deity of Miletus. By closely studying the muscles, Cycladic sculptors of the Severe style (490 - 450 BC) aimed to convey movement in their art. Reused during the Roman era, this statue was incorporated into the ornate decoration of a theatre in Miletus.
