Mihai Eminovici; born 15 January 1850 – died 15 June 1889, was a celebrated poet, novelist and journalist of unyielding passion. He is widely regarded as the most renowned and influential Romanian poet of all time. Eminovici was an active member of the prestigious Junimea literary society and served as editor for the prominent newspaper Timpul ("The Time"), the official publication of the Conservative Party (1880–1918). His debut poetry collection was published when he was just 16 years old, and at 19, he traveled to Vienna to further his education. The poet's manuscripts, comprising 46 volumes and approximately 14,000 pages, were generously gifted by Titu Maiorescu to the Romanian Academy during a meeting held on January 25, 1902. His notable works include Luceafărul (The Vesper/The Evening Star/The Lucifer/The Daystar), Odă în metru antic (Ode in Ancient Meter), and five insightful Letters (Epistles/Satires). Eminovici frequently drew upon metaphysical, mythological and historical subjects in his poems. This object is part of "Scan The World".
